Neighborhood Development Company Rescission of Parking Lot Lease Termination Notice Statement



Effective today, NDC has rescinded the cease & desist order and the lease termination notice issued to the Co-op on April 15, 2021 related to their unsafe use of the parking lot.


As the 99-year leaseholder of the parking lot on the west side of the Takoma Park-Silver Spring Food Co-op, NDC respects the valuable role that the Co-op plays in the fabric of our community. Over the past years, we have successfully worked with the Co-op to ensure that they can continue to serve local residents.


We continue to be concerned that the current delivery practices pose a significant safety threat to children, pedestrian, bicyclist and driver safety, and need to be addressed for the benefit of the community. We hope that the Co-op will work with the City of Takoma Park to address these concerns and help to create a safer Takoma Junction.


We are very disappointed in the Takoma Park, MD’s City Council’s June 2 vote to disapprove NDC’s site plan for Takoma Junction. Over the past six years, the NDC team has worked closely with the Counc
